What We Create

Balloon work that anchors the room.

Sparkle Events supplies and installs helium balloons in Ottawa from a studio at 99 Ralph Erfle Wy in Nepean, covering Kanata, Barrhaven, Orleans, Gloucester and Gatineau: organic garlands, ceiling balloons, arches, columns, giant statement and mirror balloons, bouquets, and balloons printed with a name or age. Colours are matched to your palette and ordered in rather than pulled off a shelf, so balloon work needs more notice than most people expect. Garlands and arches are built on site; bouquets and giant number balloons can arrive ready to place.

Organic garlands, arches, columns, and giant statement balloons, colour-matched to your event and installed on site. From a photo-corner garland to a full ceremony arch.

Balloon work is one piece of our event decor Ottawa practice, which also covers backdrops, rentals, and full event styling.

Helium Balloons Ottawa

What floats, what does not, and how long each lasts

The pieces that actually float, and the ones we deliver

Helium bouquets, giant number and letter balloons, and ceiling balloons. These are also the pieces we deliver: balloon delivery in Ottawa means a bouquet arriving ready to place, not a garland in a box. Foil holds helium for days, which is why giant numbers keep their lift well past the event. Untreated latex is a shorter proposition, usually under a day, so helium work is filled close to your start time rather than the night before. Ceiling balloons need real height to be worth doing: under a standard eight foot ceiling they read as clutter, and in a hall with a proper void they are the cheapest way to fill it.

Garlands and arches, which do not float at all

This is the part most people are surprised by. An organic garland or a ceremony arch is air-filled and built onto a frame, not helium, and that is exactly why it holds its shape for a full day rather than sagging by the evening. Anything that has to stay put on a wall, a staircase or an entrance wants air, not lift. If you have seen a garland advertised as helium, it was not one.

Giant statement, mirror and printed balloons

Oversized statement balloons and chrome mirror finishes carry a photograph on their own, and a balloon printed with a name, age or date is the one people photograph deliberately. Printing and speciality shades get ordered in for your date, so these need more notice than anything else here. Send the wording and the colour reference with your date.

Gender reveals

One filled statement balloon with the colour hidden until it is opened. The logistics decide this more than the design does: somebody has to know, the balloon has to travel without anyone seeing through it, and it has to arrive with its lift intact. Tell us who is keeping the secret and we plan the handover around that person.

What balloon styles do you build?

Organic garlands that wrap a backdrop or climb a staircase, full ceremony arches, columns that frame an entrance, giant mirror and confetti balloons, balloon bouquets, and custom balloons printed with a name, age, or date. Everything is colour-matched to your palette rather than pulled from a stock set of primary colours, which is most of the difference between balloon decor that looks designed and balloon decor that looks like a party aisle.

Why do colour matching and build quality matter?

Two things separate polished balloon work from the rest: colour discipline and how it is built. We match to your palette, mix balloon sizes so a garland reads organic instead of like a uniform tube, and build on proper frames when an install needs to hold its shape for a full day. A garland thrown together from whatever shade was in stock is obvious in every photograph you will keep.

Do you install on site, or just drop off balloons?

Larger work is built and installed on site so the shape sits exactly where it should against your backdrop, wall, or entrance. Smaller pieces like balloon bouquets and giant number balloons can be delivered ready to place. Either way, nobody in your family is inflating anything the morning of the event.

Do you do Halloween balloon decor?

Yes, and the palette is most of the job. Halloween work lives or dies on getting black to read as a deep, matte anchor rather than a flat hole in the photograph, which means mixing sizes and breaking it with the second colour rather than building a wall of black. Burnt orange, deep purple and bone white each pull the look in a different direction: orange reads as classic and family-friendly, purple as costume-party, bone and black as the more grown-up version. Those shades are ordered in rather than stocked, so a Halloween garland or arch needs its palette settled earlier than a birthday one does. Tell us which of the three directions you are after and whether children are attending, because that decides how far the styling goes.

When should Halloween and seasonal work be booked?

Earlier than the date suggests, for a reason that is about supply rather than our calendar. Speciality shades are ordered in, and late October is the single most concentrated week in the balloon year, so the colours that make a Halloween setup work are the ones most likely to be unavailable if you ask in the last fortnight. The same is true in reverse for the December stretch, when corporate parties and family gatherings overlap. If a shade cannot be sourced for your date we will say so before you book rather than substituting something close and letting you find out on the day.

How does Ottawa weather affect outdoor balloon decor?

Balloons behave very differently outside. Direct sun and summer heat shorten how long a setup holds, and cold does its own damage, so outdoor balloon work gets planned around the weather and the time of day rather than promised the same lifespan as an indoor install. We will tell you honestly what to expect for your specific setup instead of overselling it.

How It Works

From first message to teardown

Share your palette & date

Send your colours, the date, and a photo of the space or any reference you have saved. Colour-matched balloons often need ordering in.

We design the shape

We propose the shape and scale that suits the wall, entrance, or backdrop you are working with, and quote it itemized.

We build on site

We install on the day so the garland or arch sits exactly where it should, and mix sizes so it reads organic.

We can take it down

Teardown and disposal can be included, so you are not pulling balloons off a wall at midnight.

Teardown and disposal sit in the quote for a reason beyond convenience. Health Canada's toy safety guidance says latex balloons are for decoration and not for play, that only adults should inflate them, and that uninflated balloons and pieces of broken balloons belong out of the reach of children.

How much notice do you need for balloon decor?

More than most people expect, because colour-matched balloons often have to be ordered in rather than pulled off a shelf. A week or two is comfortable for most setups, and peak weekends fill earlier than that. If your date is soon, ask anyway and we will tell you honestly what is achievable with what is already in stock.

How long do balloon garlands and arches last?

A properly built garland on a frame holds its shape well past a single event day, and indoors it can still look good for days afterward. Heat, direct sun, and outdoor installs shorten that noticeably. That is why we plan outdoor balloon work around the weather and the time of day rather than promising the same lifespan everywhere.

Do you deliver balloons, or only install full setups?

Both. Larger work like garlands, arches, and columns is built and installed on site so it sits correctly against your backdrop or entrance. Smaller pieces such as balloon bouquets and giant number balloons can be delivered ready to place. Tell us which you need when you enquire.

Can you match a specific colour or print a custom balloon?

Yes to both. We colour-match to your palette rather than working from a fixed set of shades, and we do custom balloons printed with a name, age, or date. Send a photo or a colour reference with your enquiry and we will tell you exactly what is achievable for your date.

Do you deliver balloons in Ottawa?

Yes. Balloon bouquets, giant number balloons and single statement balloons are delivered ready to place, across Ottawa, Kanata, Barrhaven, Orleans, Gloucester and Gatineau from the studio in Nepean. Larger work is a different job: garlands, arches and columns are built on site rather than dropped off, because they are assembled onto a frame and will not survive a car. Tell us the address and the time you need it there, and note that helium is filled close to delivery rather than the night before.

Why do helium balloons shrink in the cold?

Because the gas inside contracts, not because the balloon has leaked. Carry a bouquet out to the car in an Ottawa February and it will look noticeably smaller within a few minutes, then fill back out once it is indoors and warm again. Nothing has gone wrong and nothing needs replacing. It is worth knowing before an outdoor photo in winter, and it is one reason foil holds up better than latex on a cold day.
