What a low table changes about the evening
Floor seating puts everyone at the same level and much closer together than a standing-height table does, and it slows the meal down. It suits boho and garden styling, henna nights, intimate birthdays and long grazing spreads. It does not suit a formal sit-down dinner or a room with older guests who would rather not get down to the floor and back up again, and we would rather say that before you book it than after.
The ground matters more than the room
A low table on uneven ground is unusable, because there is no chair to absorb the wobble. The catalogue photo shows it set up outdoors on a wooden deck with rugs and cushions laid around it, which is the right kind of surface: firm and level. Grass, gravel and soft lawn are the ones to flag to us in advance so we can plan boards or pick a different spot with you.
What it needs around it
Budget floor space well beyond the table itself. You need a clear metre or so on both long sides for cushions plus room for people to get up and walk behind them, so the footprint in a room is roughly double the table. Rugs underneath are what make it comfortable. We deliver it, set it in place, and collect it, so the only thing you need to have decided is where it goes.
